East Longmeadow lies southeast of Springfield along the Connecticut border. The town was once known for its redstone quarries, whose brown and red sandstone was shipped across the country for building fronts. Its center is a distinctive junction where several roads meet at a rotary, surrounded by shops, churches and town buildings, with residential streets, parks and some remaining farmland spreading outward in every direction.
