Chicopee is a city at the meeting of the Chicopee and Connecticut rivers, just north of Springfield. It grew as a manufacturing center, with mill villages at Chicopee Center and Chicopee Falls producing everything from swords and bronze to bicycles and sporting goods. Distinct neighborhoods such as Willimansett, Aldenville and Fairview developed around them, and Westover Air Reserve Base occupies a large area on the city’s northern side, near the Granby line.
