Templeton is a town of four villages in northern Worcester County: Templeton Center, Baldwinville, East Templeton and Otter River. The center features a classic common with a church and historic homes, while Baldwinville and Otter River grew around mills on the Otter River. Forests and ponds cover much of the landscape, and Otter River State Forest lies along the northern edge of town.

Getting around
Route 2 passes just south of the villages, offering highway travel east toward Fitchburg and the Boston area and west toward Greenfield. Routes 2A, 68 and 101 connect the villages with Gardner and Winchendon, where shopping, services and commuter connections are close at hand.
Parks and recreation
Otter River State Forest offers camping, swimming and trails, and the Otter River itself is popular with paddlers. Ponds across town support fishing, and nearby Lake Dennison, Tully Lake and the Gardner and Winchendon trail networks add more options. Fall foliage along the back roads is a seasonal draw.
