Conway is a rural town in the hills west of Deerfield, centered on a small village where Route 116 crosses the South River. Its most striking building is the domed Field Memorial Library, given to the town by Marshall Field, the department store founder who was born here. Outside the center, the land opens into farms, sugarbushes and forested ridges, with the village of Burkeville along the river.

Route 116 runs through Conway, heading east to South Deerfield and Interstate 91 and west to Ashfield. From the interstate, Greenfield, Northampton and Springfield are easy to reach. Amtrak service is available in Greenfield and Northampton, and most daily trips are by car.
